About

From succesful international career to university lecturer, entrepreneur and caregiver – I’ve travelled the rocky, windy, tragi-co96020005 cropmic, bitter sweet path that many of you have just embarked on or have been travelling along perhaps for even longer than me.

I started Caregiver Junction so that people could get information about being a caregiver, taking care of the elderly, dementia etc.

29 May M and MeI not only cared for my lovely mum  for several years but after she had to be in a nursing home I spent many hours each day with her. I also worked in carehomes and for a care company in the UK.

I’ve seen the world of caregiving from most angles and frankly a lot of it I really don’t like. Caregivers can be treated as non-persons, they get tired through inadequate sleep or interrupted sleep; they lack exercise, they can become isolated from society.

And then of course there’s the financial aspects of being a caregiver which can create as many sleepless nights as looking after a restless cared for.

Do I regret doing what I did ? Would I do anything different if I could put the clock back?20140727_162618[1] I would most definitely ring fence all my savings and never ever use them to live on. I would never compromise my physical well-being but other than that yes, I would do it all again. Why? Because I love my mum and she’s just too cute to abandon!

I hope you’ll find Caregiver Junction helpful. At the moment there’s a bias towards information from and about the UK however a lot of the information about eldercare and dementia is generic.

I’d love to have feedback from you – what further information you’d like to see; books you recommend; resources for your own country.I really want to make Caregiver Junction as international as possible. Contact.

My aim with Caregiver Junction is to make a little bit of money from affiliate links, maybe selling some of my Monetize your Knowledge home study courses but mainly I’ve started it as a tribute to my mum, fellow caregivers, care workers and the elderly who struggle alone. I wanted people to be able to get information about being a caregiver, taking care of the elderly, dementia etc without having to rummage around all over the internet. Ultimately I’d like to be The Voice for the Silent. The voice for the elderly who have no-one to defend them; for the caregivers who feel like non-persons and are afraid or too tired to say anything; for the care workers who are over worked, underpaid and cast to one side in the world of work.
